Fluorocarbon of Dover, NH, has been honored as the
nationwide Employer of the Year by the National MS
Society, in the under 100 employees category. They
received the same local recognition from the Central
New England Chapter during the Volunteer Luncheon
in September.
Being true to their corporate philosophy of 'balance',
the ownership, management, and employees of Welch Fluorocarbon
extended themselves as a business and as individuals
to accommodate the disabilities of an employee with multiple
sclerosis, Matthew DeRocchi, taking exceptional steps
to protect his dignity, his livelihood, and his family.

Despite the absence of a work-related injury, Welch
Fluorocarbon perceived the onset of DeRocchi's MS as
a condition in which they were a responsible party.
The company's actions approached heroic when its owner,
Evan Welch, changed health insurance providers at an
increased cost to the company in order to provide necessary
coverage, and voluntarily paid DeRocchi's premium.
And, after extending sick pay beyond policy limits,
a substitute job was offered when it was apparent he
could not return to his previous position.
Welch Fluorocarbon is an inspiring embodiment of the
highest ideals in disability accommodations.
