Mayor Pro Tem Robert Berry and New Hampshire State
Senator Katie Wheeler braved a heavy snow storm on
Wednesday, January 31 to congratulate Evan Welch and
Welch Fluorocarbon of Dover, NH, for their selection
as the National MS Society Employer of the Year.
Also on hand were Mike Dugan, National MS Society President & CEO,
Bill Keough, Central New England Chapter Chairman,
Arlyn White, Chapter President & CEO, and nearly
all the Welch employees, most notably, Matt DeRocchi,
the employee with MS who nominated the company.
Governor
Jeanne Shaheen issued a citation. Sheridan Brown
of Congressman John Sununu's office read a letter
of praise. And, Senators Bob Smith and Judd Gregg
also
sent letters.
Evan Welch said that helping Matt was the right thing
to do, because people are his greatest asset. Matt
revealed how he almost quit before he was hospitalized
with an exacerbation. Though he dreams of living
in Alaska, Matt lives every moment knowing he is
loved
by his boss and fellow employees.
